Weekly Roundup: 4/8 - 4/13

On Tuesday the Mustangs hit the road to take on the Cougars of Cherokee Trail.  Mullen fell in straight sets 3-0. On Thursday they hosted the Eaglecrest Raptors and came up short, 3-0 in straight sets. A day later, Mullen was back on the road against Bear Creek High School. The Mustangs fell to the Bears 3-0.  The team will look to bounce back into the win column against Overland High School on Tuesday, 4/16. 

On Tuesday, the Mustang Girls’ Soccer team hit the road for a match up against the Grandview Wolves. Mullen fell 2-1 to the Wolves.  Two days later, Mullen bounced back with a 3-1 win over Smoky Hill.  They followed that victory up on Saturday when they traveled to Carbondale to take on Roaring Fork.  They defeated the Rams 3-0. Stella Zinis, Joyce Campos, and Aisley Schmeisser would all have goals in the win. On 4/16, the Mustangs will go for their third straight win against the Cherokee Trail Cougars. 

On Wednesday of last week, the Mullen Mustangs hosted Ralston Valley High School and fell just short by a score of 6-5.  It was as much they lost the game as they simply ran out of time.  The next night, the boys fell to Battle Mountain by a score of 10-4. The team will look to bounce back on 4/17 against Golden High School. 

On Tuesday, 4/9, the girls’ Lacrosse team hit the road against Heritage High School. The Mustangs fell 15-4. The next night, the girls traveled to Cheyenne Mountain in the Springs and lost 16-7. They will look to bounce back against St. Mary’s Academy on 4/16. 

On 4/9, The Mullen Baseball Team hit the diamond and took on Overland High School.  The Mustangs would get a big 10-0 win over the Trailblazers.  Mullen would get contributions from up and down their line up in the win. Next, Two days later, the Mustangs would travel to take on the Bruins of Cherry Creek.  Mullen fell by a score of 10-0. A day later the Mustangs would hit the diamond against Castle View High School and come up just short by a score of 7-5. Mullen will look to get back in the win column against Grandview on 4/16.

On 4/9, The Girls’ Tennis V2 team traveled to Smoky Hill High School and eked out a victory by a score of 4-3. A day later, the varsity had a road match against Littleton High School and beat the Lions in straight sets, 7-0.  On Thursday, The Mustangs returned home to take on the Cherokee Trail Cougars and secured the win with 6-1 score for their third straight win. 

The girls golf team had a strong showing at the challenging Saddle Rock course for their third League match and finished second overall behind Cherry Creek.  Co-Captain Jane Gray led the team with a fifth-place finish, while her sister, Freshman Abby Gray, came in seventh.  Senior Esperanza Barela stepped up in her first varsity tournament to fill out the fifth varsity spot.   The JV team also competed with Lillian Horvath making her JV debut, setting an exciting picture of what could be ahead for the freshman. Next up for the Mullen Girls’ Golf team is the DPS invitational where they will compete against 20 different high schools.
